The effect of physical security and IT security threats on functional safety is considered: the safety case identifies the security threats that could cause a hazardous failure of a safety-related function, shows that the system design and its application conditions protect the safety functions against them (or that a separate security process such as IEC 62443 or CLC/TS 50701 does so) and records the security-related application conditions the operator must maintain; security is treated for its impact on safety, not as a separate objective of this standard.
