EAR - Export Administration Regulations 762.5: Reproduction of original records

What does 762.5 require?

Reproductions may replace originals only if the system can reproduce all records on paper with all marks and both sides legibly; preserves the initial image and logs every change, by whom and when, unalterably; is governed by written procedures naming who operates and maintains it and for inspection and quality assurance, with documented implementation; is complete or cross-referenced to other systems; records where, when, by whom and on what equipment records were entered; and can be made available with equipment and knowledgeable staff at the examination site on request. Digital image systems must retrieve all records of a transaction by party name, country or original document reference number; photographic systems need a detailed index.
