The Board expects every registered dental practitioner to practise safely by preventing or minimising the spread of infection to patients, practitioners and the community, to know how to use infection prevention and control systems for safe care, and to apply a risk-based approach suited to the practice setting. This responsibility stays with the practitioner even where infection control tasks are shared with others or the practitioner does not own the practice.
