The benefits that come from delivering and keeping suitable I&T products, services and capabilities are monitored against the business case as agreed and currently in force. Agreed metrics follow how benefits are realised, how they change over the life cycle of programmes and projects, how products and services produce them, and how they stack up against internal and industry benchmarks. Where realised benefits depart significantly from those expected, corrective action is taken, business cases are revised and improvements to processes and services are put in place. Outside expert guidance and benchmarking data are used to challenge and strengthen the metrics and targets.
