Align, Plan and Organize – COBIT 2019

COBIT 2019 APO02.05: APO02.05 Define the strategic plan and road map

Together with the relevant stakeholders, an all-round digital strategy is produced, and a road map lays out the step-by-step increments toward its goals so that attention stays on the transformation and on the organisational change it needs. Initiatives that close the gaps are defined and woven into one consistent I&T strategy that fits every aspect of the business. The road map covers training people in new skills, helping adoption and reshaping the operating model. The wider ecosystem of partners, suppliers and start-ups is taken into account. Actions are bundled into programmes and projects, each with its resource needs, schedule, budget, risk, change impact and dependencies; dependencies, overlaps and synergies are put in priority order; and the road map is completed with its scheduling and interdependencies. A champion for digital transformation and for aligning business and I&T is named, stakeholders give formal approval to the plan, and objectives are turned into measurable outcomes whose metrics and targets track enterprise benefits.
