CDP (formerly Carbon Disclosure Project) 5.11.5-5.11.8: Questions 5.11.5 to 5.11.8: Supplier environmental requirements, supplier engagement and smallholders

What does 5.11.5-5.11.8 require?

The organisation states whether suppliers must meet environmental requirements in purchasing and details each requirement (for example setting a science-based target, deforestation- and conversion-free sourcing, water stewardship), the mechanisms for monitoring compliance, the share of suppliers and of supplier-related emissions in compliance, and the response to non-compliance; describes its supplier engagement actions (capacity building, information collection, innovation and collaboration, financial incentives), coverage by spend and emissions and the measures of success; and describes engagement with smallholders. CDP's ambition is contractual requirements with compliance monitoring and remediation before exclusion; climate leadership points require a science-based target requirement with at least 76 percent of tier 1 supplier-related emissions compliant and engagement covering more than half of tier 1 spend or emissions.
