Packing: general provisions for packagings, IBCs and large packagings (Part 4) – Australian Dangerous Goods Code Edition 7.8 (Consignor and Transport Duties)

Australian Dangerous Goods Code Edition 7.8 (Consignor and Transport Duties) 4.1.1.1: Pack dangerous goods in good quality packagings that withstand transport and are closed as the manufacturer directs

What does 4.1.1.1 require?

Packagings, intermediate bulk containers and large packagings must be of good quality and strong enough for the shocks and loadings of normal transport, including trans-shipment, warehousing and being taken off a pallet or out of an overpack for handling. They must be built and closed so that no contents escape under vibration or changes in temperature, humidity or pressure, closed according to the manufacturer's instructions, and carry no dangerous residue on the outside. The duty applies to new, reused, reconditioned and remanufactured packagings and to repaired IBCs.
