Safety equipment and procedures during road transport (Parts 12 and 13) – Australian Dangerous Goods Code Edition 7.8 (Consignor and Transport Duties)

Australian Dangerous Goods Code Edition 7.8 (Consignor and Transport Duties) 13.1.3.2: Parking: brake applied, not in gear without an anti-start device, and away from public places, crowds, other dangerous goods vehicles and naked flames

What does 13.1.3.2 require?

A parked dangerous goods vehicle has its parking brake fully applied and, if diesel powered, is not left in gear unless an engaged device prevents starting if it moves. It may not be parked or left standing in a built-up area open to the public, within 15 metres of a building likely to hold a concentration of people (other than on the loading or unloading premises), at any other place of concentration of people, or within 8 metres of another placarded vehicle (except off public access), unless reasonably necessary for loading, breakdown, a dangerous situation, legal compliance, a short rest or meal break or normal operation, for no longer than necessary with the goods kept secure, or at a place approved by a competent or local authority. Vehicles with Division 2.1, Class 3, 4 or 5 goods or those subsidiary hazards stay at least 15 metres from naked flames. Small wet acid battery loads may park in public or be garaged in residential areas under the stated locking, covering and documentation conditions.
