Core Standard 3 Service governance and management – Australia RACGP Standards for After-hours and Medical Deputising Services (5th edition)

Australia RACGP Standards for After-hours and Medical Deputising Services (5th edition) C3.4: Communication and teamwork: the team can raise administrative matters with the principals, directors, management or owners when needed, all members are encouraged to contribute, and the clinical team discusses clinical issues and the systems that support care

What does C3.4 require?

Teams that rarely meet in person must communicate deliberately. Team members have a documented route to the people who run the service for administrative concerns. The service seeks input from everyone, including call handlers, drivers and sessional clinicians, when systems are designed or changed. Clinicians communicate regularly, in person or online, about clinical matters such as difficult cases, incidents, new guidelines and the service's clinical support systems, and the discussions are recorded.
