Part 2-4: use and management of public resources, banking, borrowing, investment, indemnities and insurance, waivers and act of grace, gifts and liability for loss, Ministers' approvals and notices (sections 50 to 72) – Australia Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGPA Act)

Australia Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGPA Act) 55: Banking or dealing with relevant money received: a Minister passes relevant money to an official of a non-corporate entity as soon as practicable, and an official who receives bankable money deposits it in a bank within the prescribed period or as soon as practicable, or otherwise deals with it as the rules require

What does 55 require?

Relevant money that reaches a Minister (other than money the Minister holds to make payments connected with official duties) has to be passed to an official of a non-corporate Commonwealth entity as soon as practicable. An official of any Commonwealth entity who receives relevant money capable of being banked (bankable money) must either deposit it in a bank, within the period the rules set or, absent one, as soon as practicable and in line with any rule requirements, or deal with it otherwise as the rules allow. Money that cannot be banked is dealt with as the rules prescribe. The section bites on money that becomes relevant money the moment a Minister or official receives it.
