Australia OGTR Guidelines for Certification of a PC2 Plant Facility (Version 3.2) A11: Decontamination of liquid effluent

What does A11 require?

There must be a system in the facility for decontaminating liquid effluent that contains, or may contain, GMOs, GM micro-organisms included. This includes effluent from washing up pots, containers and other equipment that holds or may hold GMOs. The note suggests holding the effluent and treating it in a waste treatment vessel inside the facility or just outside it, and says there is no need to hold effluent before discharge if the sewage system can decontaminate the GMO.
