Australia OGTR Guidelines for Certification of a PC2 Plant Facility (Version 3.2) A10: Filters or decontamination on floor drainage

What does A10 require?

Where there are floor drainage exits, they must have either filters suitable for stopping the GMOs escaping, or a means of treating all effluent with heat or chemicals to decontaminate it before discharge. The note says the facility may be built so that liquid effluent of every kind, drainage exit effluent included, goes through the same filtering or decontamination system, and that sending unfiltered or untreated effluent into municipal sewers is not an adequate barrier and must never happen for species that could live through the sewer and the treatment plants.
