Standard 2: Partnering with Consumers – Australia National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards Second Edition

Australia National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards Second Edition 2.08-2.10: Communication is tailored to consumer diversity, consumers are involved in developing and reviewing patient information, and clinicians are supported to communicate so information meets needs, is easy to understand, addresses clinical needs during the stay and covers ongoing care at discharge

What does 2.08-2.10 require?

Ways of communicating must suit the mix of people the service treats and, where relevant, the local community. Consumers must help develop and review information the organisation writes for patients and families. Clinicians must be helped to communicate so that information fits needs, is understandable and usable, meets clinical needs during the stay, and equips people for ongoing care at discharge.
