A credit provider must not enter a credit contract unless it has given the debtor, before the contract is entered or the debtor's offer, a precontractual statement of the matters s 17 requires (credit provider name, amount of credit, interest rates, repayments, fees and charges, and the rest of the list) and an information statement of the debtor's statutory rights and obligations; for low cost credit contracts the information statement follows the prescribed and ASIC-determined requirements.
