Roofs and external walls, including the openings around windows and doors, must stop water penetrating in a way that could cause unhealthy or dangerous conditions or loss of amenity for occupants, or undue dampness or deterioration of building elements. H2P2(a) binds a Class 10 building only where its construction helps weatherproof the Class 1 building. Verification Method H2V1 tests an external wall prototype (direct fix, cavity or unique wall) with a risk score of 20 or less on Table H2V1a, an ultimate wind pressure not above 2.5 kPa and only AS 2047 windows: serviceability wind pressure for at least 1 minute each way, static water penetration at the higher of 300 Pa or 30% serviceability pressure, cyclic pressure stages, and for cavity walls 6 mm defect holes and a 50 Pa check after removing the lining, with a test report recording supervisor, specimen and leakage details. Deemed-to-Satisfy route: H2D4 masonry weatherproofing to AS 3700, AS 4773.1 and 4773.2 or Housing Provisions Part 5.7 (for Class 1 external walls and Class 10 walls contributing to them); H2D6(4) roof and wall cladding as in H1D7; H2D7 glazing as in H1D8(1) (AS 2047); H2D8 external waterproofing of flat roofs, roof terraces, balconies and terraces above internal spaces with membranes to AS 4654.1 designed and installed to AS 4654.2, except concrete slabs stepped down at least 50 mm below the internal floor (and not over habitable or non-habitable space where suspended), or spaced decking on external-grade framing.
