Part 8.9: Asbestos-related work – Australia Model Work Health and Safety Regulations

Australia Model Work Health and Safety Regulations r479-481: rr 479 to 481 Asbestos-related work: resolve uncertainty by analysis, inform workers, separate the area

Where there is reasonable uncertainty whether work is asbestos-related work, the PCBU has a sample analysed by a NATA-accredited or regulator-operated or approved laboratory unless it assumes asbestos is present; informs persons likely to be engaged of the health risks and effects of asbestos and the need for and details of health monitoring before engaging them; and ensures the asbestos-related work area is separated from other work areas, with signs indicating where the work is done and barricades delineating the area.
