Part 8.6: Demolition and refurbishment – Australia Model Work Health and Safety Regulations

Australia Model Work Health and Safety Regulations r454-455: rr 454 and 455 Emergency demolition: develop an exposure procedure and notify the regulator

Where a structure or plant containing asbestos is structurally unsound or collapse is imminent and must be demolished, the person with management or control (or, at residential premises, the PCBU doing the demolition) ensures so far as reasonably practicable that, before demolition, a procedure is developed (considering the asbestos register where one exists) to reduce the risk of exposure of workers and people nearby to below the exposure standard, and gives the regulator written notice immediately on becoming aware of the emergency and before demolition starts.
