Section 2: Managing WHS risks – Australia Model Code of Practice: Healthcare and Social Assistance Industry

Australia Model Code of Practice: Healthcare and Social Assistance Industry 2.4b: 2.4 Provide suitable information, training, instruction and supervision, including for diverse workers

The PCBU must ensure so far as reasonably practicable that workers get the information, training, instruction or supervision needed to protect everyone from WHS risks, suitable for the nature of work, the risks and the controls, and readily understood. The industry has many workers from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, so the PCBU may need translated materials, pictures or diagrams or extra supervision and training. Review training programs regularly and on changes to work processes or controls, keep training records, and train supervisors and managers in their own roles since they are workers too. Supervision depends on the level of risk and worker experience, with more for those new to the workforce or the task.
