Section 6: Preventing ground collapse – Australia Model Code of Practice: Excavation Work

Australia Model Code of Practice: Excavation Work 6.4: 6.4 Remove shoring safely, in reverse order, at backfill stage

Shoring and other supports should be taken out so that workers are protected from ground or structural collapse and from being hit by structural members, and temporary members may need to go in first. The system should be dismantled or extracted in the reverse of the order it went in, people in the excavation should stay within the protection of the support system, and no part should come out before the trench is ready to be backfilled and compacted for the last time.
