Guidance on the hazards and risks of particular industries and kinds of work can be had from regulators, unions, industry associations, safety consultants and technical specialists. Manufacturers and suppliers can provide safety data sheets for substances and instruction manuals for plant and processes. The PCBU should analyse its own records of health monitoring, incidents, near misses, worker complaints, inspections and investigations to find hazards. If a task has already injured someone, the same hazard could injure another person, so incidents should be investigated to pin down the hazard responsible.
