Redundancy pay is provided by the NES. On transfer to lower-paid duties because of redundancy, the employer must give notice as for termination or pay the difference in ordinary pay (including all-purpose allowances, shift and penalty rates) for notice not given. An employee may leave during the redundancy notice and keep the redundancy benefits but not pay for unworked notice. The employee must be allowed up to one day off without loss of pay each week of the minimum notice to seek work, with proof (a statutory declaration suffices) required on request for more than one day.
