A casual may be engaged for up to 38 ordinary hours a week, for a minimum engagement of 3 hours (2 hours for cleaners in private medical practices). For each ordinary hour the employer must pay the minimum hourly rate for the classification and pay point plus a 25% loading, and for overtime the casual rates in clause 25. The NES casual conversion pathway applies (ss 66A to 66MA).
