Australia Commonwealth Climate Disclosure Requirements (Year 2 Reporting Provisions) 2.8: Reporting period, comparatives and consolidated reporting

What does 2.8 require?

The climate disclosure is provided with the annual report and covers the same period, except that strategy information (risks, opportunities, scenario-based effects, plans to meet targets) is forward-looking, steps to fill information gaps extend beyond the period, and metrics and targets follow the periods set in the whole-of-government Emissions Reporting Framework. A period longer or shorter than twelve months is disclosed with the reason and a note that the information is not entirely comparable. Prior-year data and narrative are included where they help users, for example to track emissions reduction. Unless agreed otherwise with Finance the disclosure covers the same reporting entity as the financial statements; an entity with consolidated statements may extend to subsidiaries and must then name the entities covered.
