Current and anticipated financial effects of climate risks and opportunities need not be disclosed before the third reporting year, although the entity must still consider material financial effects in its financial statements under AASB 101. Materiality is the governing test: the entity discloses meaningful information, meaning information on climate risks or opportunities with an actual or possible significant impact on the entity, on its public policy delivery or on its financial prospects, assessed with the interests of Parliament and other annual report readers in mind, as the PGPA Rule requires. The assessment is entity-specific, uses judgement rather than universal thresholds, and the Materiality Guidance sets the minimum baseline.
