Australia Commonwealth Climate Disclosure Requirements (Year 2 Reporting Provisions) 2.18: Complementary policies and the six guiding principles

What does 2.18 require?

The entity refers, where applicable, to the net zero strategy for government operations, the whole-of-government Emissions Reporting Framework, the Commonwealth Risk Management Policy and the government's 2024-2026 climate risk and opportunity Approach for the public sector when preparing its disclosure. It applies six guiding principles: fair presentation (relevant, comparable, verifiable, timely, understandable, and a depiction of material risks and opportunities that is complete, neutral and accurate); completeness (every non-discretionary criterion addressed, with gaps and the steps to close them stated); accountability (the accountable authority or governance body responsible for oversight clearly identified); maturity (scope widening from organisational risks in Year 1 to policy-related risks from Year 2 under the progressive implementation schedule); forward-looking content; and proportionality to the entity's size, prominence and risk profile.
