Australia Commonwealth Child Safe Framework (2020) r2: Requirement 2: Training and compliance system

The entity establishes and maintains a system of training and compliance that makes staff aware of, and compliant with, the Framework and relevant legislation, including working with children or working with vulnerable people checks and mandatory reporting requirements. At a minimum it has clear, well-communicated policies meeting the Framework and its specific risks, covering reporting and handling of reports of abuse (including blind reporting where a reporter or victim does not want details passed on, and mandatory reporting) and a supportive environment for staff who disclose abuse, published with child-friendly language where possible; trains staff on their obligations from the start of their role and on an ongoing basis, scaled to the entity's contact with children (tiered training for high-contact areas); screens staff so that all comply with working with children or vulnerable people laws, mandatory reporting and the Commonwealth failure to report and failure to protect offences; and runs a system that keeps checks current and monitors training completion.
