Standard 6 Evaluation and continuous improvement – Australia AMC Standards for Assessment and Accreditation of Primary Medical Programs (2023)

Australia AMC Standards for Assessment and Accreditation of Primary Medical Programs (2023) 6.2: Outcome evaluation: analysis of student and graduate cohort performance to confirm that all students meet the program outcomes and that outcomes are similar across cohorts; examination of performance against student characteristics shared with the selection, curriculum and student support committees; and evaluation of outcomes for equity group cohorts, with evaluation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Maori cohorts informed and reviewed by First Nations education experts

What does 6.2 require?

Outcomes are measured, not assumed. Cohort data for students and for graduates are analysed to confirm that every student reaches the program outcomes and that those outcomes hold steady from one cohort to another, for example across campuses, pathways and years. It looks at how performance varies with student characteristics and passes those findings to the committees responsible for selection, curriculum and student support. It evaluates program outcomes for cohorts from equity groups, and where it evaluates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Maori cohorts, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Maori education experts shape and review that evaluation.
