Standard 3 Assessment – Australia AMC Standards for Assessment and Accreditation of Primary Medical Programs (2023)

Australia AMC Standards for Assessment and Accreditation of Primary Medical Programs (2023) 3.3: Assessment quality: regular review of the assessment system, including blueprinting and standard setting, for fairness, flexibility, equity, validity, reliability and fitness for purpose using quantitative and qualitative methods; and consistent expectations and comparable assessment burdens where practices differ across teaching sites for the same learning outcomes

What does 3.3 require?

The assessment system is itself assessed. The provider regularly reviews its assessment policies and practices, including how it blueprints and sets standards, asking whether the system remains fair, flexible, equitable, valid, reliable and fit for its purpose, using a range of review methods and both quantitative and qualitative data. Where sites assess the same learning outcomes in different ways, those ways rest on consistent expectations and impose comparable assessment burdens on students.
