A program is built with its communities, not for them. The provider engages its stakeholders, deliberately including groups that face health inequity and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Maori people and their organisations, in setting the purpose and program outcomes, in designing and running the curriculum and assessment system, and in evaluating the program and its outcomes. Its partnerships for the education and training of students are backed by formal agreements with community bodies, with health services, with the local providers of prevocational training, and with human service agencies and the relevant arms of government. Its partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Maori people and organisations are mutually beneficial, set out the expectations of each partner and support the sustainability of community health services.
