Flow in the water service is controlled by isolating valves, placed (in the 2003 text) at the main connection and any alternative supply, at the meter or just inside the boundary, where the authority requires, at each cistern, appliance, testable backflow device, thermostatic mixing valve, pressure limiting or reducing valve, pump, tank inlet and larger tank outlet, and each irrigation offtake; with extra valves on fire services; one on each branch to an individual dwelling in a multiple dwelling, accessible to its occupier; and all valves on the property accessible for maintenance.
