Copper pipe and fittings are installed to AS 4809; PVC systems (PVC-U, PVC-M, PVC-O and PVC-C) to AS/NZS 2032; ABS systems to AS/NZS 3690; PE systems to AS/NZS 2033; other plastics following the manufacturer's instructions. Before cutting into metallic pipe or replacing it with plastics, the electrical earthing should be checked by an electrical contractor, because live water pipes have caused deaths and injuries.
