Accessible pipework in buildings other than houses is permanently marked as water service to AS 1345 (NZS 5807 in New Zealand) at regular intervals and at branches, junctions, valves and penetrations, with non-drinking pipes marked accordingly (2003 text). The 2021 edition changed the marking requirements for commercial buildings to help identify pipework and avoid cross-connections; that text is not held.
