In a single house the water service running from the property service to the branch offtakes must have an internal diameter of 15.0 mm or more (Appendix A sets internal diameters; fire sprinklers and specialist systems need hydraulic design). Branch offtakes must stay within the lengths in Table 3.5.2 and serve a single fixture or outlet, except that a branch of at least 12.5 mm internal diameter may also feed a flushing device or a tank supplying a gravity-fed domestic water heater, and one of at least 10.0 mm may feed a bath and shower combination, a laundry trough with washing machine, or a kitchen sink with dishwasher.
