Penetrations for taps, shower outlets, recessed soap holders and similar are waterproofed with preformed flange systems or sealant, allowing tap washers or ceramic discs to be serviced without damaging the seal. Any fixing or fastener penetrating surface materials must also be waterproofed. Notes cover ceiling roses, mixer tap cover plate drainage and mixers that cannot be integrated with the membrane (outside the Standard).
