Section 7 covers special hazard suppression: gaseous agent, aerosol and open-nozzle water mist systems (pre-engineered kitchen systems follow AS 3772 and mobile equipment systems AS 5062 where those apply); systems with electrical detection and control are also serviced to Section 6. Before service: tell the responsible entity, advise it what any impairment involves and how long it is likely to last, advise the monitoring provider, disable the system so service cannot cause a discharge, set detection and alarm in test mode and isolate ancillary systems and air-handling plant not being tested. Every stored pressure container discharge valve is mechanically isolated (actuator removed or locking pin fitted) before the monthly and six-monthly tests; electrical isolation alone is not enough. Fixed aerosol systems are isolated through the AS/NZS 4487 maintenance isolate switch, or the generators are removed from the protected area if there is none. Afterwards controls are returned to their prior state, and anything left impaired is logged and the owner or agent notified. Frequencies are monthly, six-monthly, yearly and ten-yearly.
