AS 1684.2:2021 Residential Timber-Framed Construction - Non-Cyclonic Areas 6.2.4-6.2.5: 6.2.4 Framing around chimneys and flues; 6.2.5 Lateral support for non-loadbearing walls

Framing near chimneys and flues follows AS 1691 and AS/NZS 2918. Non-loadbearing external walls (gable ends, verandah walls under trusses on beams) are restrained laterally at no more than 3000 mm centres by ceiling joists or trusses, beam ends, continuous battens or binders (at least 35 by 70 mm, spliced as the clause sets); non-loadbearing internal walls sit at least 10 mm below truss bottom chords or battens and are fixed to trusses as the figure shows.
