In the predecessor: common studs (up to 20 % of them) may be crippled to straighten them, but never studs beside openings or under concentrated loads; common studs are evenly spaced; wall junctions use the junction details with blocks or noggings nailed to each wall; cuts, holes, notches and grooves stay within the limits (holes no larger than 25 mm in the wide face, notches limited, plates trenched no more than 3 mm unless the reduced depth is designed); jamb studs carry no notch within the central half of their height; and noggings are provided at no more than 1350 mm centres where required, sized as the clause sets. The 2021 revision relaxed notching in non-loadbearing walls and Amendment 1 changed 6.2.1.3 and Figure 6.3 (junctions); those values are not asserted.
