Handrails on both sides of the stair, at least 1000 mm apart, continuous through the flight and where practicable around landings, with no obstruction up to 600 mm above, following the nosing line with no vertical sections, at 865 mm to 1000 mm measured vertically from the nosing. At the bottom the handrail runs one tread depth parallel to the nosing line plus at least 300 mm horizontally past the last riser; at the top it extends at least 300 mm past the nosing; the inner rail need not extend at intermediate landings where it is continuous.
