AS 1428.1:2021 Design for Access and Mobility - General Requirements for Access, New Building Work 3.5: 3.5 Circulation space for a wheelchair turn

The 2021 clause keeps the three turn cases (60 to 90 degrees, 30 to under 60 degrees, and over 90 to 180 degrees). In the predecessor: a 60 to 90 degree turn needs a space of at least 1500 mm by 1500 mm, graded 1 in 40 or flatter,, which may be splayed across the inside corner; a 30 to under 60 degree turn on a path narrower than 1200 mm needs the inside corner cut back by 500 mm or more in each direction; and a turn of more than 90 up to 180 degrees needs a space 2070 mm or more long (along the travel line) by 1540 mm or more wide.
