Article 29 Working Party Opinion 2/2017 on Data Processing at Work (WP249) 5.3(c): 5.3(c) Policy on who may access suspicious log data and when, reviewed at least annually

A policy stating the purposes for which, and the people by whom, suspicious log data may be accessed should be developed and kept easily and permanently available to all employees, guiding them on acceptable and unacceptable use; as good practice it should be evaluated at least once a year to check that the monitoring still achieves its aim and whether less invasive tools would do.
