Cameras are chosen for scene identification or general observation, recognition or action identification, or personal identification. Several jurisdictions set observation categories by how large a person appears on screen, for example monitor and control, detect, observe, recognise and identify; the ASIS Protection of Assets uses subject, action and scene identification. Designers should understand these categories and local jurisdiction requirements.
