For newly regulated virtual asset services (other than item 50A exchange), the program, CDD, reporting, transfer of value and record-keeping Parts of the Act did not apply until 1 July 2026. A person whose only designated service was such a service before 1 July 2026 had until 29 July 2026 to enrol, and could keep providing it without registration if it applied for registration by 29 July 2026 and AUSTRAC had not yet decided; applications made between 31 March and 29 July 2026 were not subject to the section 76D(4) restriction.
