A person authorised to supply who is given a supply authority that is illegible or obliterated, issued by an unauthorised person, obtained by false information, or believed to be altered, false or forged must cancel it as the regulation prescribes (s 30). Supplying a monitored medicine (controlled medicines and medicines the Minister declares), or another declared substance prescribed by regulation, whether on a supply authority or not, requires giving the chief health officer the information the regulation prescribes (s 31). Where the cancelled authority relates to a prescription only medicine, controlled medicine, dangerous poison or other prescribed substance, the person must notify both the chief health officer and the police immediately, or within 24 hours tell the chief health officer in writing with a copy of the cancelled authority; the same applies if, after supplying, the person learns the authority was unauthorised or the supply breached ss 27 or 29 (s 32). Each offence carries up to 100 penalty units, 1 year or both.
