ACCME Accreditation Requirements and Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education
Standards for Integrity and Independence: Standards 4 and 5 – ACCME Accreditation Requirements and Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education

ACCME Accreditation Requirements and Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education S5-2-3: Standards 5.2 and 5.3: learners can distinguish accredited education from marketing and non-accredited education (30-minute separation, no marketing in digital activities or educational materials); ineligible companies may not distribute accredited education

What does S5-2-3 require?

For live activities, advertising, exhibits and non-accredited sessions that an ineligible company developed or influenced, or that involve people with unmitigated relationships, may not take place in the educational space in the half hour either side of an accredited activity, and any non-accredited part of the event must be clearly labelled. For print, online or digital activities no advertising may be shown to learners during the activity, and learners must be able to proceed without clicking through, watching or listening to product promotion. Slides, abstracts, handouts, evaluations and disclosure pages may carry no advertising, logos, trade names or product-group messaging; purely logistical material such as a schedule may. An ineligible company may not be the channel through which learners access or receive the accredited education.
