Standards for Integrity and Independence: Standards 4 and 5 – ACCME Accreditation Requirements and Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education

ACCME Accreditation Requirements and Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education S4-1: Standard 4.1: the provider controls receipt and disbursement of commercial support; no direct payment of expenses by ineligible companies; no learner travel, lodging, honoraria or personal expenses

What does S4-1 require?

Where commercial support (money or in-kind contributions from an ineligible company) is accepted, the accredited provider alone decides how it is received and disbursed. The ineligible company must not pay any education or learner expense directly. Support may pay honoraria and travel for planners, faculty and other content controllers in those roles only, and may lower or remove the fee that every learner pays, but must never pay travel, lodging, honoraria or personal expenses of individual learners or groups of learners.
