The DPO monitors compliance with the Act, the regulations and internal policies (managing data protection activities, raising awareness, training staff and running internal compliance audits), handles requests from the Authority and data subjects, advises employees, advises on and monitors data protection impact assessments, works with the Authority, and is the contact point for data subjects. Under the Act a DPO acts independently in ensuring compliance.
