WA health entities must ensure that each AI system is used for the benefit of patients, staff or the public and does not cause harm, that its benefits outweigh its risks and that risks and negative impacts are identified and manageable. The system's purpose, benefits, efficacy, datasets, flaws and limitations are documented and reported to authorised officers and governance bodies as required. Stakeholders such as clinicians, consumers and community members, subject matter experts and legal advisers give timely input to understand potential harms and benefits, ensure trustworthiness and let those affected shape the system's design and use, and key stakeholders take part in assessment, planning and design. The system is never designed or used in a way that involves deception, unfair manipulation, surveillance except where legally permissible, or failure to disclose its true and accurate purpose.
