Virginia CDPA 59.1-578 F: Personal data of known children under 13

Without verifiable parental consent under COPPA, controllers may not process a known child's personal data for targeted advertising, sale or significant-decision profiling, beyond what is reasonably necessary for the online service, beyond the disclosed or compatible purpose, or for longer than necessary; and may not collect a known child's precise geolocation unless it is necessary for the service, collected only for the time needed, and signalled to the child throughout. Status: added by 2024 cc. 840 and 844, in force 1 January 2025. Businesses meeting COPPA verifiable parental consent are deemed compliant with the Act's parental consent obligations (59.1-576 D).
