Conflict of interest obligation (paragraph (a)(2)(iii)) – US SEC Regulation Best Interest (17 CFR 240.15l-1)

US SEC Regulation Best Interest (17 CFR 240.15l-1) a2iii-D: Eliminate sales contests, quotas, bonuses and non-cash compensation tied to specific securities in a limited period

What does a2iii-D require?

The firm's written procedures must identify and remove, not merely disclose or mitigate, any sales contest, sales quota, bonus or non-cash compensation that is based on selling particular securities or particular types of securities within a limited time. General incentives tied to overall revenue or asset growth over time are outside this prohibition, but product-specific, time-boxed pushes are banned outright.
