Disclosure obligation (paragraph (a)(2)(i)) – US SEC Regulation Best Interest (17 CFR 240.15l-1)

US SEC Regulation Best Interest (17 CFR 240.15l-1) a2i-timing: Give full and fair written disclosure before or at the time of the recommendation

What does a2i-timing require?

The disclosure obligation is satisfied only when the retail customer receives, in writing and no later than the moment of the recommendation, a complete and honest account of the material facts in the two groups that follow. Oral disclosure may supplement the writing but cannot replace it; the writing may be delivered through the relationship summary, a standalone document or layered disclosures, provided the customer has it before acting.
